It all began with a blown hot water service and an unexpected fascination for American BBQ. With an engineering background, I turned my skills towards creating an offset smoker, which provided me with the knowledge and tools necessary for a larger project. This evolution led to the birth of "Lucy," a smoker crafted from a one-ton gas cylinder. Cooking with live fire ignited a true passion within me. Relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, put me in the heart of BBQ culture, where I joined the St. Louis BBQ Society. Here, I refined my palate and learned the intricacies of the local taste profiles. While drum smokers dominate competition scenes, I recognize a broader potential that lies in innovative designs, making BBQ an accessible and enjoyable art for everyone.

With my engineering background, I found myself intrigued by the art and science of smoking meats. Driven by curiosity and a desire to experiment, I set out to create my own offset smoker.
